Brewery Review: The Brew Gentlemen Beer Company (Braddock, PA)

Spending a little time a @brewgentlemen today.

The Brew Gentlemen Beer Company

Braddock, PA (just outside Pittsburgh)

Beer is an experience that goes far beyond what’s in the glass – it’s the sum of all the small details that surround it. That’s why we’ve worked to create a comfortable and elegant brewery and taproom in which to have the best experience possible with our beer, with our space, and with us.

Our brewery is located in the historic steel town of Braddock, Pennsylvania. Just down the Monongahela River from nearby Pittsburgh, Braddock was once a booming commercial destination and the heart of Andrew Carnegie’s steel empire.

Our taproom offers draft beer for consumption on site, as well as both 750mL and 2L refillable containers to go. Check out our online menu for an up-to-date list of current taproom offerings, and our calendar for a schedule of food trucks and mobile vendors.

Beer-God's-Notes

The Brew Gentlemen Beer Co was recommended by an online friend of mine (Mark) and I’m really glad that he recommended it to me.  I didn’t have too much time in Pittsburgh, and I was down for a wedding. But he recommended it so strongly that I made some time to get down to Braddock and try this place out.  Boy, am I glad I did.

I didn’t have the time or the ability to taste everything on their menu so I just got my mainstay (and the recommended beer by Mark).  I just grabbed three IPAs and called it a day.  I haven’t had IPAs that good in quite some time, especially out of a place that I’ve never heard of.

Seriously, look at the color of these unfiltered bad boys:

Good god y'all - @brewgentlemen Akamai DIPA - but seriously, look at that color!

I mean, come on!  But, seriously, the Akamai DIPA was one of the best IPAs I’ve ever had.  It probably ranks up there in my top 5.  Maybe even the top 3.  The unfiltered goodness had lots of dankness and a little bit of sweet candy/citrus flavors.

I unfortunately, cannot speak for their other beers, but their staple IPA (General Braddock’s) was incredible.  The Lou (which was their Ales for ALS DIPA) was also really nice, and the Akamai were freaking incredible.

If/when I make a trip back to Pittsburgh I will be hitting Brew Gentlemen back up.  And believe me when I say — you should too.  Tell them the Beer God sent ya!

Also, to the brewers and owners of Brew Gentlemen — if you EVER start to can/bottle any of your beer — you’d better send some up to me in Buffalo — I’ll hype the heck out of it!
