42 North Sour Series: Vagabond (Whiskey Barrel Aged Sour)
The 42 North Sour Series has a new inductee! We would like to officially introduce the Vagabond Sour, which will be available for purchase in bottles starting this Friday, August 12th in the 42 North taproom.
The Vagabond sour is a Whiskey Barrel Aged Sour with an interesting story, where the barrel used brings it’s own character to the beer. The Vagabond is a tart treat with amazingly complex and bold, yet balanced, sour citrus aromas and flavors- weighing in at 5% ABV. Lactic and acetic acid tingles the tongue thanks to a wild mixture of lactobacillus, brettanomyces, and sachromyces yeast providing the fermentation character over the last 6 months.
The yeast and bacteria now reside in the wood staves of an old Whiskey barrel that traveled the country from a cooperage to a distillery, to a brewery in Michigan you may of heard of, and lastly to an antique shop where we found it.
This is an extremely limited release of only 80 bottles, priced at $18/bottle. Limit of 2 bottles per customer! Stop by this Friday to pick up your bottle (or two) & taste the history first hand.
