Beer God’s Notes

Original Tasting Notes: this was pretty well balanced. I could tell it was hoppy but it wasn’t bitey.

One of the most frustrating parts of enjoying good beer is when you’re not sure if a beer is fresh or not.  This isn’t as much of a problem with stouts and darker beers.  But with IPAs and DIPAs — fresh is good.  The hops will lose some of their characteristics pretty quickly.

So, when I review a beer like this, without a date on the can — it’s hard to say “wow this beer was really balanced” when in reality it could have been “this tasted really balanced since a lot of the hop profile faded away”.

If this normally tasted the way that I had it, it was hoppy and you could tell — but it had that hoppy mouthfeel without being overly bitter.  The malt bill in this definitely balanced Whistle Punk out.
