COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION:
Centennial, Chinook, Columbus and Crystal hops were added at the very end of the boil to give a robust hop flavor and smooth bitterness. This Spicy and floral beer was brewed with a touch of rye malt to accent the spiciness of the hops. Low in alcohol, yet full in flavor.
APPEARANCE:
Great color, not too light. Poured with a nice head on it.
AROMA:
Some rye, some hops, and a little bit of a lager smell, really cool combination of the three scents.
TASTE:
Light, very light in flavor. I get some hops and a little bit of rye, but this is just a really light tasting beer. At 3.8% though, the flavor is good — if this was a big beer at 8-9% I would be mad, but for it’s ABV this is perfect. Really nice aftertaste too.
OVERALL:
This company honestly surprises me with almost every beer I’ve had by them. I would not consider myself a lager fan– I don’t like the aftertaste in most lagers that I’ve had. But, with every beer that Jack’s Abby puts out, I’m gaining more and more faith in the lager category and going back to retry some of the ones I may have written off before. This beer is a great quick drink on a hot day, and won’t get you hammered even if you have a few.
RATING:
4 out of 5
Really nice price point, and a really easy to drink IPL.
