Beer God’s Notes

Original Tasting Notes: I’m not a fan of Hefe’s but this is nice and refreshing on a hot day.

I’ve been trying to branch out a little bit from my “bold beer” mentality.  I love big beers, even on a hot day.  But they’re not always the best beer for me in the moment.  I end up being dehydrated and more thirsty.  When I received Maui Brewing’s Mango Hefeweizen I was pretty excited.  Not normally a style I would buy for myself, I’m glad I had a chance to try it.

The style itself, understanding that it’s not always my favorite came through in this beer.  I was getting little notes of clove and banana throughout, along with a little bit of citrus on the tongue. I don’t know if I was getting mango specifically or just that citrus burst. Either way, this was an incredibly refreshing beer that tasted good on a hot day (and I bet would taste good after some yard work).

Maui has been putting out some really awesome and unique beers lately, and I’m happy to be a part of that world.  I hope that they keep innovating like this and come out with new and different flavors for old classics.
