Beer God’s Notes

Original Tasting Notes:  this is smoky, holy crap

Sometimes a few words are better than a lot.  Another beer that I bought based on the fact that it wasn’t from around Buffalo and it was something that instantly caught my attention.  I didn’t see that it was a collaboration with Stillwater when I picked it up and I definitely didn’t see that it was a peach smoked ale.

So, upon first smell and sip Afterglow kind of blew my mind.  I was shocked at the amount of smoke that this beer was able to contain. It was super smoky — like after a full day sitting on the smoker, smoky.  I was instantly shocked by this and had to recalibrate my tastebuds a little to figure out what I was getting from this beer.

Definitely, smoke but there was a hint of some sweetness in there too.  I can’t tell what flavor it is (it’s supposed to be peach), but I can tell that it has some overall sweetness hidden in the smoke.
