Beer God’s Notes
This is one of those beers that I read the ABV and the IBUs and laugh. Those numbers can definitely tell you something about the beer your drinking, but it definitely doesn’t always do a perfect job. This is one of those instances. A 35 IBU sub 5% American Pale Ale is very average sounding. This beer was far from that.
It had a slight haziness from the hops (and my second glass was from near the end of the keg). The hop kick in this (for “missing” hops) was really nice, I don’t know if it was the combination of hops used or what, but I found myself really enjoying this beer.
It was such a surprise that after my first one I had to try another just to see if my tastebuds were messing with me or what, but it was as tasty as my first one.
I talked with the guys from Big Ditch about this a little last night at the Brewed & Bottled Big Ditch tap-takeover and they said that it’s a one-off since it was a mess up. But he did says that people were really enjoying it, so they’ll look into making something like it in the future.
Description
When we ran out of Tettnang hops while making our Low Bridge Golden Ale, we decided to add a hefty amount of Mosaic, Zythos, Nelson Sauvin, and Pacific Jade hops to yield a Pale Ale brimming with pineapple, citrus and floral aroma over a nice bready malt base.
