Review: Americano Stout by Stone Brewing Company

@stonebrewingco Americano Stout - absolutely delicious. Really nice coffee and chocolate flavors in this.

Americano Stout

Brewery: Stone Brewing Co, Escondido, CA
Beer Style:  Imperial Stout
ABV:  8.7 %
IBUs: 65

Beer God's Notes

The coffee and espresso notes in this are to die for.  I’m incredibly impressed with the amount of flavor that Stone can pack into such a small package.  This definitely reminds me of their 22oz releases.  Really strong, smooth, and incredibly delicious.  Americano Stout will definitely be jumping up towards the top of my easy to find coffee/espresso stouts.  It’s really that good.

Other Notes:

I definitely taste some dark chocolate and the strong hop backbone.  The beer was a little dry tasting, like a dry stout, but it didn’t dry my mouth out like dry stouts usually do.  I’m going to mark that up to the 65 IBUs that this bad boy packs.

A DECIDEDLY AMERICAN IMPERIAL STOUT WITH ESPRESSO

The coffee notes in Stone Americano Stout are bold, rich and full of American swagger. For each 120-barrel batch, we incorporated over 250 lbs. of artisanal espresso-roast beans into the mash and added in Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo and Cascade hops to invigorate the coffee taste with a slight citrus and resin hop presence. When it came time to selecting our coffee, we chose the same local roasters who contributed to our sought-after 2013 Stone ESPRESSO Imperial Russian Stout. Their fantastic beans helped us achieve this dark, hoppy and wonderfully aromatic espresso stout.
